Great acceptance of the idea of making limited edition art calendars for every year has elevated our challenges (as well as our art loving customers' hopes) to a higher level. Nobody had a clue on what to do or how to do or when to start designing our next Art Calendar for 2017 until we receive an email (or rather a loving compulsion) from one of our loyal customer who already owned our last year's masterpiece! She was keen to know when our 2017 calendar is getting ready; we couldn't actually ignore her curiosity.
Going back to the seeding stage of Unposted Letters, Art Calendar 2016 was the show opener! Honestly speaking, Art Calendar 2016 was a beautiful craft as well! We couldn't actually stop ourselves from getting excited on art lover's immense responses to book one. Some people even ordered for more than one piece; as the calendar being a limited edition and they wanted to gift one, and at the same time they wanted to keep the other on their table top.
We started thinking about it, brainstormed a lot - finally, we could gladly send a convincing reply to our loyal customer about the new year blast - release of Art Calendar 2017, an iconic camera faced angel!
Design phase was full of fun. Illustrations - you know what it is and how it is :-) Creative thoughts are simply dipped in paint cans - Vimal did an amazing work.
Crafting the camera shaped stand was not that easy. There's a lot of science behind it's weight and cuts, considering various placing conditions of the calendar in several possible ways at your living rooms! Also we had to make it cute and minimal with naturally extracted colors plus had to consider applying the 'Channapatna' way of doing it! We've been big fans of 'Channapatna making' since the day we met Venkat and his crew. We made the camera stand happen in consultation with experts, and did a couple of PoCs just to make sure our ideas are working as expected (thanks to Venkat and his crew for the great patience and of course their home made black coffees).
Last year two of our customers honestly sent us their feedback - they wrote that, our calendar leaves should have been printed in a bit more thicker medium so that they could have kept them for longer time as a collectible or could have even framed for hanging forever. Idea was good, which we realized this time. This time, our calendar leaves are chosen to print on a high quality thick premium paper medium, so that they could be framed after each month to hang on your living room walls. At the end of the year, you have 12 framed beautiful art prints one by one in sequence!. We're sure that they remain beautiful for longer time :-)
Addition of a pair of classic Unposted Letters dolls with the calendar turned it a full edition pack, while the camera stand plus the calendar leaves made it's light edition. Around 80% of the people opted for full edition and then it went out of stock as quick as a month's time. Even now, we keep receiving emails from several people within India as well as from abroad asking for one - but a limited edition should always be a limited edition :-)
Finally about our wrapping. A handmade cloth pouch does it all (there's a story behind each of our pouches, we'll narrate them later). Believe me, each pouch carries a lot of personal feelings, affection and a little social cause of coexistence.
We hope you all loved our Art Calendar 2017. From the bottom of our heart, we would like to apologize to art lovers who are still in need of one; as the calendar is out of stock forever. At the same time our sincere hearts and cheers to those luckiest art lovers who proudly own one! Cheers...!
