Life goes on, so as time
Tell us your idea of correlating life and time. If someone asks you to visualize or materialize this philosophy, what would you probably do? We had similar debates around our pantry area, which eventually ended up in the evolution of a new product segment - The Unposted Letters Time Series!
'Life goes on' is our debut attempt in Time Series. This uni-body wooden desk clock is made of teak wood, with a screen printed art on it - it is fully handmade, each piece is unique from the other for the wooden texture.
Designing an art work for our desk clock was not that fun! Life, time and their correlations needed to be expressed through very minimal and powerful concept; we really had to think a lot and loud to come up with this fresh, unique and simple representation. Below is an extract from our brainstorming sessions which we did during the thought process of the desk clock. When those collective thoughts are cooked for art, Vimal made it wonderful as usual!!
As you know, the Unposted Lettes has always a soft corner with natural stuffs and handcrafting. When we thought about the main ingredient, there was no better choice other than the elegant teak wood for the desk clock base. Although it took couple of weeks to identify the most appropriate type of wood, also to handpick the best wooden log block with optimum annual ring texture, the final outcome was worth taking time.
We strongly believe that carpentry is a blend of art and design skills. Million thanks to Ram and Suresh from Kerala, for their artistic ideas and craftsmanship in making such a beautiful uni-body teak wooden base for the desk clock. These guys are now a part of Unposted Letters team. We're happy to have them with us, we'll be more than happy to hear more ideas from them in upcoming days.
The illustration on the clock is printed through the method of screen printing. Lots of manual works were involved in printing every detail on each piece of clock. In this way each clock piece is manually attended and printed the art by hand - thanks to Mr. Hari, from Kerala, for being our new team member. He is a master in screen printing, by his expertise that he earned from decades of his experience in the industry.
Good thing is we didn't keep the seconds clock hand - it was in purpose so that you will never be worried of your time flying LOL :-) Our clock movement is currently based on Quartz (we're thinking to bring back the good old vintage type winding clock engines for it's upcoming variants), which is manually installed inside the uni-body case. Our carpenters did a precise work here in making it's deep rectangular pit for inserting the clock engine. The pit hatch is perfectly closed with a wooden piece - a masterpiece door without hinges or clips!
Finally, here's our simple, beautiful and elegant desk clock. This is not bulk-made from a factory. We've only limited pieces of clocks with us, which makes each item more valuable. We prefer our desk clock is being a collectible to a typical time machine.
Once again - this piece of ART is of limited edition, very exclusive, truly unique and fully handmade! Cheers and have happy hours with our time series :-)
